Health and Fitness
Individuals often use the words health and fitness interchangeably. The two are related and both are extremely important; however, they are not the same concept. The word fitness generally refers to the level of being physically fit. A positive level is accomplished by taking part in physical activities on a regular basis or in an exercise regimen. The word health usually indicates an individual is currently not suffering from any injury or illness. A state of positive well-being, which encompasses both words and concepts, refers a cycle.
Health and fitness are largely dependent upon each other. Individuals must, of course, be free from disease and perform regular physical activity of some type as well as be emotionally satisfied in order to achieve a state of positive well-being. If one of these elements is affected, whether negatively or positively, it affects the other two. Individuals who are not emotionally satisfied are often not as healthy as those who are. This is regardless of many days a week they work out or which types of foods they eat.
Individuals who work out on a regular basis, but do not lead a healthy lifestyle are not necessarily healthy. Each works in conjunction with the other and must be addressed individually as well as together. Tai Chi is a form of Martial Art created on the basis of traditional Chinese medicine and philosophy. It is an exercise and a practice of meditation that encompasses over all well-being. It also addresses that which is consumed both physically and mentally.
Fitness programs can reduce many health issues; however, it cannot eliminate all damage caused by an unhealthy lifestyle. Those who participate in very physically demanding activities yet lead poor lifestyles will suffer greater damage to their health in the long run. While diet is extremely important, it is not the only factor. It is important to note that the word diet, in this sense, applies not to eating one type of food, but that which is consumed in general. It is difficult to consider health and fitness properly without first determining elements of each as well as their relationships.
Individuals who eat healthy foods including a variety, as well as many that are raw and nutrient rich increase their health. If these individuals also employ fitness programs of some type with an appropriate diet, they will see even greater health benefits. The greatest health benefits are achieved when people exercise regularly, consume products that are healthy, and maintain positive mental and/or emotional health. Achieving positive emotional health may include practicing some sort of meditation or simply taking a weekly walk in nature to unwind.
Health and fitness are vital to everyone’s over-all positive well-being and one cannot be utilized without the other during the process in order to achieve this optimal state of being. When there is neglect in one area both of them, as well as the individual, can suffer greatly. It is important to balance all areas for proper positive health throughout all systems of the body. It may seem like a complicated process; however; it is actually quite simple once individuals understand the relationship between health and fitness.
